The jar was thrown in our Mahone Bay studio using a Nova Scotian earthenware clay. The brown clay was covered with a white liquid clay, called a slip, then after it dried to the consistency of cheese, the bamboo pattern was incised into the white slip. The piece was fired once, then covered with a transparent teal coloured glaze and fired a second time.
