We are fortunate to have a clay that is a dream to work with on the wheel. The bonus is that it is native to Nova Scotia. The brown earthenware glass is hand thrown on the potters wheel. A white liquid clay is poured into the glass, dumped out and the edge wiped. Three lines of white clay are then added to the outside. After the glass has been fired once, it is glazed with a transparent turquoise glaze and fired a second time. Layering a transparent glaze over the clay lines adds an interesting depth to the surface and makes the glass a treat for your hand.
